12th Grade Timeline
Senior Yearbook Photos
Yearbook photos are taken during Registration. You need to attend registration in order to get your color photo in the yearbook. Please dress appropriately. Special Note: Students need to go to two stations for photographs—one for yearbook and one for the ID card.
Seniors may submit their own senior portraits in place of standard school photos in the yearbook. Submit your senior photo for the yearbook as soon as possible, but before winter break starts on December 16, 2017. Photos should be high resolution (300ppi), 2x3 inches minimum, and school appropriate. Email your photo to email@example.com. Email your questions to yearbook business manager Jillian at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include the student's first and last name and the words "senior photo" in the subject line. Seniors who do not submit portraits by this date will have their Lifetouch school photo in the yearbook.
Grad Night Party
Sponsored by Wilson PTA, the All-Night Grad Night Party is a safe, drug, and weapon-free environment for seniors to celebrate together. The parent-volunteer committee works hard to provide a fun, memorable event, full of activity and entertainment that all of the graduating seniors will enjoy. Transportation is provided to the party immediately following graduation. Click here for registration forms and more information; scholarships are available.
The party relies on parent participation—please sign up to join the committee and help plan the evening for your graduating senior.

If you have not placed your graduation order you can do so at their website, or request paper forms from the Josten's rep. You can call (503) 690-7488 or toll-free at 1 (888) 690-7488 if you have further questions.
College Application Assistance Available at Wilson
College exploration, decision, and application assistance is available for seniors from 9:30am - 3:30pm every day in the Career Center, Room 221. Trained volunteers will help you navigate the college process and make decisions about your life after senior year. When you have an open period, please drop in and take advantage of this new service. If you are coming in during a class period, you will need a note from your teacher.
OSAC Scholarships: The Oregon Student Access Commission is a clearinghouse for over 300 scholarships for Oregon students. By completing their application, you can apply for the Oregon Opportunity Grant and up to 20 scholarships including two for Portland Public School students and three specifically for Wilson seniors. If you missed the OSAC presentation last week, please go to oregonstudentaid.gov (OSAC site) and access the informational podcast "The OSAC Scholarship Application Process". The application must be completed online; plan to submit by the 2/15/14 deadline to compete for the Early Bird Scholarship. The absolute final deadline is 3/1/14. A 7th-semester transcript is required; when you complete your application, print the transcript request page and give it to Sharon Dailey, Counseling Secretary. She will submit all transcripts electronically once the fall semester grades have been added. Check the catalog of scholarships carefully to determine which scholarships to list on your application.
Editing Service: There are four Personal Statements required on the OSAC application. They can be only 250 words each, a real challenge. Our editing service is available to help you. See Sharon Dailey in the Counseling Office to sign up for an editing appointment. Be smart and take advantage of help from the editors or one of the College Center Volunteers.
Scholarship Searches: There are a number of free scholarship search services available to you. You complete a profile, the search engine runs it against a huge body of scholarships, you receive notification of scholarships that match your profile. This can be very helpful, it allows you to sort through a huge database and focus on the scholarships that match your interests and background. The sites we recommend for your search are: Naviance, Fastweb, or Scholarshipexperts.com. Again be sure to take advantage of our volunteers and editors to help. Get started and good luck!
