What is STEM Expo?
Every spring, all students at George participate in an engineering or science inquiry project that culminates in 3 days of presentations and interviews by community volunteers. This integrated approach shows the interconnectedness of students' core learning and develops their problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
What do students do?
Every student participate in the project-based learning experience. 6th graders focus on understanding and developing wind-power as an energy source, 7th graders focus on clean-water solutions by developing effective filtering systems and 8th graders design, test and improve earthquake-safe structures. All core subjects are integrated into the project from learning about their "clients," doing background research, collecting and analyzing data, and utilizing Next Generation Science content and practice standards.
