  • Welcome to George MS SUN!!

    Registration forms will be available at the 6th grade Ice Cream Social on Wednesday 8/24; just find the SUN table.

    Registration forms will also be going home with your student during the first week of School and beyond. 

    Registration forms must be completed and turned in by September 22nd (Thursday).

    Class selection forms will be given out to students the week of September 12th for students to choose which classes they wish to participate in.  These selections forms will need to be returned by September 22nd (Thursday) or your student risk not getting into classes they may have chosen.  (All students will be required to participate in homework club if they are not already in BRAVO).

    Latin Drumming- Drumming class that concentrates on a Latin background. You will learn how to play traditional Latin acoustic using different tempos and rhythms. (4pm-5pm) (Gym) (Mondays)

    African Drumming- Drumming class that concentrates on a African background. You will learn how to play traditional African (5pm-6pm) (Auditorium) (Mondays & Wednesdays)

    Capoeira- An afro-Brazilian martial art that incorporates elements of fight, dance, play, acrobatics, strength, flexibility, history, endurance, music, community, friendship and freedom of expression. (5pm-6pm) (Gym) (Mondays)

    Homework Club- This is a class for student to start or even complete their homework before heading home. We will have volunteers that will come in and help students with all subjects. (4pm- 5pm or 5pm-6pm) (Library) (Mondays—Thursdays)

    Sports & Games- This class will consists of playing all kinds of sports such as basketball, kickball, soccer, etc. Within the class you will be learning how to become team players among your friends and peers. Learn how to share space with others. Will have guests that will come in and do exercises with the class. (4pm-6pm) (Gym) (Tuesdays-Thursdays)

    Writing- Do you want to learn how to write “FUN”!! You’ll be given an opportunity to expand your writing skills. Be able to exchange letters with students from a sister school in Ghana!! We will have story tellers from Roosevelt High school come share the books they wrote and have activities. (5pm-6pm) (Rm 209) (Tuesdays & Thursdays)

    AKA Science Color & Light- A fun and hands-on science opportunity for students that are in 5th & 6th grade. We will be doing activities such Surprising eyes, Blind spots, Glow On, etc. Also will be able to take certain supplies home to do with your family. (5pm-6pm) (STEAM Lab Rm 123) (Wednesday)

    Girls Inc. Operation Smart- Girls develop enthusiasm for and skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEAM). Through hands-on activities, girls explore, ask questions, persist, and solve problems. By interacting with women and men pursuing STEM careers, girls come to view these careers as exciting and realistic options for themselves. (4pm-6pm) (Rm 207) (Thursday)

    Saturday Academy- In a fantastic integration of art and social science, students will develop their artistic design skills in drawing, painting and sculpting while learning about the myths and traditions behind these beautiful artifacts. Students will create Paper-Mache masks inspired by slides from various cultures and tribes around the world. (4pm-6pm) (Rm 100) (Thursday)
