CHECKLIST FOR SOPHOMORE YEAR

  • Fall

    • Registration (Students attend without parents by 10th grade)
    • Back to School Night is an evening for parents to meet their student’s teachers; students are welcome to attend.
    • Continue to encourage your student to get involved in school activities (music, drama, clubs, athletics, student government, etc.)
    • Effective Fall 2016: all sophomore students will take Government & Economics which are a semester each and required for graduation. 
    • Sophomores are encouraged to complete their required one-year of Health credit by enrolling in one of the single semester Health Selective courses
    • Free PSAT for all sophomores (paid for by the State of Oregon). Note: 10th grade PSAT scores do not count towards National Merit Scholarship competition. 
    • Parent-Teacher Conferences take place in the cafeteria. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend. Students are welcome.
    • First quarter Report Cards sent home. These grades are not recorded on transcript.

     

    Winter

    • FINAL EXAMS: 1st semester grades sent home. These grades are recorded on transcript, and determine GPA and class rank. To learn more about the CHS Grading System, click here.
    • Forecasting for Junior year. (Click here to review graduation requirements). Students should continue to take rigorous courses through their senior year.

     

    Spring

    • Third quarter report cards sent home. These grades are not recorded on transcript.
    • For those considering full or partial IB, make sure your student attends their first IB meetings with the IB coordinator.
    • FINAL EXAMS: 2nd semester grades sent home. These grades are recorded on transcript, and determine GPA and class rank. To learn more about the CHS Grading System, click here.
