On Thursday, May 24, 2018, Portland Public Schools will celebrate the accomplishments of our Latino students with our third ¡Sí Se Puede!(“Yes, we can!”) Event to be held at the Blanchard Education Service Center from 6:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. ¡Sí Se Puede! is an opportunity for students to celebrate and inspire each other, build relationships outside their schools and share the rich diversity of their talents and experiences with the greater Portland community. Each year, teams of teachers, counselors and administrators at all our PPS high schools embrace the chance to promote their Latino students who exemplify:
Again this year, we are pleased to add 8th graders to our list of honored students. All 16 honored students will receive special recognition, a professional photo portrait and will be highlighted in a special commercial to be aired on PPS Channel 28. The May 24 celebration for our students and their families will feature music and food. Honorees will be asked to invite a teacher, administrator or member of the community who has made a difference in their lives to share in the festivities. The true highlight of the evening will be when our honored students take center stage to display their creativity, speak their truth and/or share their vision of the future. In the spirit of community, we welcome everyone at PPS to be an active part of the ¡Sí Se Puede! Event. Please join us on the evening of the event to catch your first glance at Oregon’s future leaders in business, science, politics and culture. El jueves, 24 de mayo las Escuelas Públicas de Portland celebrarán los logros de nuestros estudiantes latinos con nuestra tercera gala anual ¡Sí Se Puede! El evento se celebrará en las Oficinas Centrales del Distrito Escolar de 6:00 p.m. a 8:00 p.m. El evento ¡Sí Se Puede! es una oportunidad para que los estudiantes se alienten e inspiren mutuamente, desarrollen relaciones fuera de sus escuelas y para que compartan con la comunidad de Portland la riqueza de su diversidad, sus talentos y experiencias. Cada año, un grupo de maestros, consejeros y administradores de cada preparatoria de PPS tienen la oportunidad de promover a sus estudiantes latinos que ejemplifican:
Tal como el año pasado, tenemos el placer de añadir 8 º grado a nuestra lista de estudiantes homenajeados. Todos los 16 estudiantes homenajeados recibirán un reconocimiento especial, un retrato de fotografía profesional y será destacado en un anuncio especial que se emitirá en el PPS Canal 28. La celebración del 24 de mayo para nuestros estudiantes y sus familias, contará con música y cena. Los homenajeados podrán invitar a un maestro, administrador o miembro de la comunidad que lo haya apoyado en su trayectoria escolar. Lo más destacado de la noche será cuando nuestros estudiantes homenajeados ocupen el escenario para mediante un breve discurso, mostrar su creatividad, compartir su historia, y/o compartir su visión del futuro. Animados con un espíritu de colectivismo, invitamos a todo de PPS a unirse a nuestros esfuerzos y apoyar a nuestros estudiantes latinos y a sus familias. Nos complacería que sean parte de este gran evento ¡Sí Se Puede! Únase a nosotros la noche del evento para conocer a los futuros líderes de negocios, las ciencias, la política y la cultura en Oregón.
