Young, Gifted, and Black 2016
You are cordially invited to attend the PPS 7th Annual Young Gifted and Black Tribute which will be held at the BESC (Blanchard Education Service Center) located at 501 North Dixon Street on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Young, Gifted and Black is a program aimed at highlighting the success of Black students throughout PPS; again this year we will be recognizing some of our most distinguished students and their families. Their photographs and inspiring stories will be shared with students, families and community members from throughout Portland.
Through highlighting and promoting student success, we strive to create another vehicle for inspiring other students. Please join Portland Public Schools for our 7th annual Young, Gifted and Black ceremony. We received more than 130 student nominations from kindergarten through 12th grade. Making decisions about students who would be recognized as part of the photo-gallery was not easy, but we are pleased to announce that we have selected 28 finalists. The ceremony will include a full program including keynote speaker, Toya Fick, Executive Director of Stand for Children, music, presentation of certificates, beverages and hors d’oeuvres.
