Zone 4 [map]

Rashelle Chase-Miller

Current Term: 7/2025 - 6/2029

Bio

Rashelle Chase-Miller grew up in Northeast Portland and attended Portland Public Schools as a child, and is proud to represent Zone 4, the community her family has lived in for generations. She is an early childhood educator with over twenty five years of experience in early learning as an educator, administrator of early learning programs, curriculum and professional development architect, and consultant. She currently works as the statewide Program Director for SMART Reading, an Oregon children’s literacy non-profit. As an educator who is also the daughter and granddaughter of educators, Rashelle’s service on the board is informed by the historic struggle for access to education for marginalized peoples, as well as her experiences within PPS first as a student and as a parent. Throughout her career Rashelle has been an advocate for children, particularly those furthest from access and opportunity, and she is committed to contributing to a district where every child can thrive. Rashelle has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Studies and Black Studies from Pitzer College, and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Early Childhood Education from Portland State University. Rashelle and her husband have two sons who are PPS students and is a proud taekwondo and wheelchair basketball mom.
