Brief Description:
The purpose of this course is to introduce students to chemistry, earth science, and physics while providing the student a solid science foundation. Students will perform experiments, make predictions, collect data, perform analysis, and formulate conclusions.
The chemistry component includes such topics as atomic structure, chemical reactions, types of matter, compounds, elements, periodic table, and acids. The earth science component includes topics such as the formation of the Earth, Earth's place in the universe, the Earth's motion through space, and the Earth's atmosphere. In the physics section, students will study topics such as energy, motion, forces, work, machines, and light.
Students should be competent at basic math computations prior to the course. This course is recommended as a prerequisite for students taking Chemistry and Physics later in their academic career.
