Capacity - ACCESS Program at Terwilliger (2020 Bond)

2020 Bond funding in the amount of 10,000,000 will provide facility improvements related to school capacity issues in order to address ongoing enrollment changes to schools in the District. Two projects are currently underway including:

Access Academy at Terwilliger - Work Completed 2023

Work at the school included: 

• Creating a new accessible walkway to the main building, a new main office and a secure vestibule. 
• Large open space rooms were transformed into separate classroom spaces, creating more capacity. 
• Infrastructure work included repairing and cleaning the existing HVAC system while most of the duct work was replaced.
• Some new interior and exterior lighting fixtures were added and some minor power upgrades were provided.
• A new IT room was built and new IT infrastructure was provided throughout the building.
• The restrooms were given ADA improvements to bring them up to code.
• The modular buildings also received a new accessible walkway, and the original classroom layout was restored. Some structural, mechanical and electrical upgrades were provided, as were new ADA-compliant restrooms. 
• Exterior work included parking lot improvements, a stormwater planter, and a new trash enclosure.
• All the curb ramps and driveway aprons on the public right-of-way directly surrounding the school were replaced/upgraded to meet code.
