Our Mission

Through collaborative partnerships Columbia Regional Inclusive Services provides special education services for students with low-incidence disabilities from birth through age 21, including:

• Autism spectrum disorder
• Blind/visually impaired
• Deaf/hard of hearing
• Deaf blind
• Orthopedic impairments
• Traumatic brain injuries

With specialized expertise in each disability, we offer direct instruction, coaching, consultation and professional development.

We partner with districts to meet the needs of our students by providing assistive technology, conducting evaluations and participating in IEP/IFSP development. Our itinerant teachers serve children in their homes, community preschools, special classrooms and neighborhood schools. We operate classrooms for the deaf and hard of hearing, spanning Pre-K through high school.

What we do

Low-incidence disabilities occur at such a low rate that it is difficult for districts to provide a full range of services and specialized staff. Providing these services on a regional basis is cost effective and assures that students receive programs and services from qualified staff related to their specific needs.

We are one of eight regional programs in Oregon. We have had an Oregon Department of Education contract held by Portland Public Schools since 1983.

The regional programs are funded by a combination of state and federal funds.
