Data Strategy and Insights

Charting Our Progress: The PPS Academic Journey

Our data tells a story of resilience, dedication, and strategic investment across Portland Public Schools. Over the last several school years, our school communities have engaged in targeted instructional work that is yielding clear, measurable milestone acceleration.

Surpassing Pre-Pandemic Outcomes

Our journey isn't just about recovery, it's about acceleration. PPS student growth metrics have rebounded past pre-COVID baselines, establishing clear upward momentum. While broader state-level trends show continued recovery challenges, our targeted literacy frameworks and intensive math models have effectively pushed district outcomes beyond historical parameters.

Standard-Setting Excellence

Portland Public Schools continues to set a decisive benchmark for academic performance, consistently outpacing general Oregon state-wide averages in core proficiency indicators. Through intentional resource deployment and professional framework alignment, we are driving rigorous student success metrics that outpace broader regional baselines.

Accountable to Every Student

True transparency demands celebrating system gains while confronting disparities with precise intention. Our localized data highlights ongoing achievement variances among specific focal student groups. We remain fiercely focused on deploying customized supports to eliminate these persistent gaps.

Coming SEPTEMBER 2026 District Continuous Improvement Plan (DCIP) Tracker

We are shifting from static, yearly data summaries to live, ongoing progress accountability. Launching ahead of the upcoming school term, our new central data platform will introduce a reflection on the complete 2025–2026 school year outcomes alongside a real-time monitor for our active 2026–2027 school year implementation goals. Official 2025-2026 outcomes will be available in the Fall of 2026 once ODE releases them.

Meeting Oregon State Standards: We are linking all of our daily school metrics, like reading levels, math progress, and high school graduation paths, directly to the Longitudinal Performance Growth Targets (LPGTs) set by the Oregon Department of Education (ODE). This makes it easy for families, principals, and district leaders to see exactly how our local classroom supports are helping students meet and exceed state goals.
