Returning ESL Materials

Returning ELD Materials

If you have any questions about returning materials, email ESLLibrary@pps.net.

If you are leaving your position, please email ESLLibrary@pps.net, and we'll determine how to handle your materials (whether it be to return them all, or transfer the checkout to another teacher).

ELD Library Materials

Anything with an ESL Library barcode sticker can be returned to the ESL Library. However, the majority of these materials can be kept indefinitely, as long as you are teaching ELD for PPS and using them. We can just renew them year after year. The exception to this are some Professional Development books, Native Language and picture books, and book bags. We do not have as large a quantity of these materials, so the loan period for them is shorter so that other teachers may check them out. If you are sending back materials, just address them to ESL Library/PEC and put them out in your pony pickup area.

Adopted Curriculum

Example of PPS textbooks barcode

PLEASE Do not send district adopted curriculum (anything with a Portland Public Schools barcode rather than an ESL Library barcode) to ESL, even if it is ELD curriculum. To return district adopted ELD curriculum (Avenues, Shining Star, Inside, Edge, Focus on Grammar) email textbooks@pps.net. Please do not leave boxes out for pony pickup without first communicating with the Textbooks Department. The warehouse has cut back on staffing and services and will be limiting the materials they will pick up. For more info about returning textbooks, read this.
