K-5 Vietnamese Dual Language Immersion Language Arts & Foundational Skills Curriculum

Adoption Status: 

• Foundational Skills- The development of foundational skills curriculum is occuring internally with DLI educators as there is no comprehensive Vietnamese DLI foundational skills curriculum that meets PPS' standards. This is a multistep process that began in Spring 2022 and is set to end in Fall 2024.
• Reading Activities- PPS DLI educators are currently developing Reading Activities aligned to the standards of the current Vietnamese Language Arts curriculum. This is a multistep process set to end in Spring 2023.

K-5 Japanese Dual Language Immersion Foundational Skills Curriculum 

Adoption Status: 

• Foundational Skills- The development of foundational skills curriculum is occuring internally with DLI educators as there is no comprehensive Japanese DLI foundational skills curriculum that meets PPS' standards. This is a 4-part process that began in Spring 2022 and is set to end in Spring 2024, with a staggered rollout over two years. This also includes the development and refinement of a foundational skills scope & sequence.

K-5 Russian Dual Language Immersion Language Arts & Foundational Skills Curriculum

Adoption Status: 

• Foundational Skills- Foundational Skills materials were developed in the spring/summer of 2022. These materials will be rolled out in classes during school year 22/23.
• Pacing Guide- The curricular pacing guide for Russian DLI was refined during the spring/summer of 2022 and will be rolled out during school year 22/23.
• Book Leveling- Authentic core texts were purchased and leveled over the summer of 2022. 
• Phonemic Awareness Handbook- Russian DLI educators are in the process of developing a Phonemic Awareness handbook that is based on Heggerty curriculum. Grade 2 work occured in SY 21/22, Grade K work will occur in SY 22/23 and Grade 3 will occur in SY 23/24.
• Language Arts- Additional language arts materials will be reviewed during the 22/23 school year, this includes evaluating Great Minds: Wit & Wisdom to see if these materials would be a good fit for Russian DLI, and should be translated.
