What is Helensview?

  • Helensview is a special alternative school located on the corner of 87th and Killingsworth in Northeast Portland
  • Helensview is part of the Multnomah Education Service District
  • Helensview enrolls youth ages 12 to 21 from any school district in Multnomah County
  • Helensview enrolls approximately 200-250 students each school year

Who is Helensview?

  • Students seeking dual credits from community colleges while earning a high school diploma
  • Students seeking CTE career and technical education credits in the areas of Construction/ Manufacturing, Music Production and Making, Culinary Arts, Early Childhood Education or CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant).
  • Students that are seeking to build career experience in the field prior to graduation in order to enter the job field of their choice with an advantage
  • Students that have dropped out of school for a variety of reasons
  • Students that are pregnant and/or parenting
  • Students that have been suspended or expelled for any reason
  • Students on parole or probation
  • Students that are behind in their credits
  • Students that have given up on school and have dropped out or are considering dropping out
  • Students that might need special behavioral or academic help

What does Helensview offer?

  • An accredited diploma that meets state educational standards
  • Curriculum that is at a student's level, that challenges him/her, but not so much that frustration and failure set in
  • Dual Credit in college while students continue to earn high school credit
