Your Safety Comes First

If you or someone you know is in immediate danger or needs urgent help, please take action right away. Your safety and well-being are the top priority.

Emergency Contacts

• Call 911 — For any life-threatening emergency or immediate danger.
• Child Abuse Hotline — Report suspected child abuse or neglect at 1-855-503-SAFE (1-855-503-7233). This line is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• Crisis Line for Youth — Call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
  You’ll be connected to trained counselors who are ready to listen and help, anytime.
• School Safety and Security — Contact 503-916-3000 to reach the PPS Security Department if an unsafe situation arises on or near school property.

If You Experience or Witness Harassment, Discrimination, or Threats

If someone’s safety, dignity, or civil rights are at risk:

1. Get to a safe place and tell a trusted adult (teacher, counselor, or administrator).
2. Contact your School-Based Civil Rights Coordinator or the PPS Office for Civil Rights.

3. If the situation involves sexual harassment or assault, you can also use the Title IX Incident Reporting Form to report it directly.
4. Reports of hate-based incidents or bias-related threats can also be made to the Office for Civil Rights or school administrators immediately.
    

Support After an Emergency

After an emergency or crisis, PPS can connect students and families to:

• School counselors or psychologists for emotional support
• Social workers for resource referrals
• Language and translation services for communication support
• Disability accommodations under Section 504 or ADA
• Safety planning and restorative supports for those impacted by harm

No matter the situation, you are not alone — help is available, and your safety matters.

If You’re Not Sure What to Do

If you’re unsure whether something is an emergency or a rights concern, it’s always okay to ask.
You can contact your school office or the PPS Office for Civil Rights, and someone will help you decide what steps to take.

You will be treated with respect, dignity, and confidentiality when you reach out for help.
