The Office for Civil Rights supports Portland Public Schools in responding to discrimination, harassment, bias, and other civil rights concerns. The office coordinates district responses, supports investigations, provides training, and helps ensure compliance with federal, state, and district civil rights requirements.
Civil rights support is a shared responsibility across the district. The Office for Civil Rights works with school administrators, School-Based Coordinators, and other district staff to respond to reported concerns, coordinate appropriate next steps, and connect students and families with information and support.
This site provides information and resources for students, families, and PPS staff about civil rights protections, reporting concerns, district response processes, and available supports.
