Portland Public Schools is undertaking a districtwide rightsizing process to better align our schools, programs, and resources with the needs of today’s students and the realities shaping our future.
In alignment with Portland Public Schools' core mission to provide rigorous, high-quality academic learning experiences that are inclusive and joyful, the Office of Educational Services leads our district’s commitment to disrupting racial inequities and empowering every student to thrive.
Guided by the District Continuous Improvement Plan—with its focus on instructional clarity, standards-aligned engagement, and equitable access—our department drives high academic expectations and comprehensive support across all grade levels. We lead Core Academic programming, Special Education, and Student Services, while advancing personalized Programs and Pathways, including college and career readiness, Career and Technical Education (CTE), and Talented and Gifted (TAG) instruction.
Through Extended Learning opportunities such as summer learning and credit recovery, alongside Columbia Regional Inclusive Services, we ensure every learner receives the continuous, high-quality support necessary to succeed in school and beyond.

All students deserve to be educated in the least restrictive environment possible, with access to general education, with their siblings and neighborhood friends. Schools that implement the inclusive model continue to support spaces that provide specialized services as outlined in their individualized education plan (IEP). The district has shifted its staffing allocation model within each school onboarding this model to focus on forecasted student needs specifically identified within
