Educator Focused Programs

Pathway Programs

Educator Pathways is focused on the PPS vision to recruit, develop, and support a culturally diverse workforce dedicated to the highest standards of equity and achievement, creating an environment of empowerment and success for our students, employees, and the communities we serve.

Teacher Candidates will experience joyful, authentic, continuously supported field experiences that prepare them to teach Grade-Level Standards-Aligned (GLSA) instruction in PPS classrooms.

We believe in building future PPS teacher capacity through a systematic, aligned, continuous, coherent, and collaborative partnership to develop a diverse, high-quality, thriving workforce that disrupts the predictability of learning outcomes for our most persistently underserved students.

  • Roe and all of the George Middle School staff have been so welcoming and have helped me grow so much as an educator. I could not give high enough praise to this school and highly recommend it for any teacher candidate moving forward.
  • My field experience was hands on, and was a great mentor-mentee experience. Indigo supported my needs in a fantastic way while also pushing me in just the right ways to try new ways of teaching!

Induction Programs

Through our PPS Educator Induction Program New to the Profession (1st, 2nd, & 3rd Year) Educators receive peer-to-peer, non-evaluative instructional coaching through providing rigorous, high quality academic learning experiences that are inclusive and joyful. We disrupt racial inequities to create vibrant environments for every student to demonstrate excellence. Our goals include building teacher capacity through a continuous, coherent, content-based and collaborative system of professional learning in order to disrupt the predictability of learning outcomes for our most persistently underserved students.

  • I appreciated having someone to bounce ideas off of and to get specific feedback on. My student engagement definitely increased due to these conversations.
  • Consistency and accountability, my mentor was always a voice of reason and kept me on track on what is most important - student experience.
  • What worked well for me this year in having a mentor was the sense of ongoing, non-evaluative support. I appreciated being able to ask questions, try things out, and reflect without pressure. It helped me build confidence in my own teaching practice and see real student progress.
  • I love that the mentor program feels SO SUPPORTIVE. I feel like our time spent meeting has made me a better teacher and allowed me to support the learning of students in a more impactful way.

Ongoing Learning

  • Our instructional coach has been instrumental in helping me develop effective classroom management strategies and improve my lesson planning. Her guidance and encouragement have had a very positive impact on my teaching.”
  • PLCs have been intentional and supportive without feeling daunting or overwhelming. I am never made to feel small for what I am not doing well, which enables me to be more comfortable asking for support when it is needed.
  • Being able to dig deep into data and practice on a one to one level while also having time to reflect and grow has been incredibly helpful for my practice.
  • My math practices have improved and my students now understand how to work in partnerships and understand how to communicate their thinking. I also feel that many of my students are stronger readers because of our coach. Our coach also supported our EA which improved student learning.
  • My coach was a wonderful sounding board, a cheerleader and someone experienced enough, strong enough, to suggest changes of practice. Sometimes stubborn me actually changed course!
