The PPS Suicide Prevention & Intervention Protocol provides school teams with a structured, compassionate framework to identify, assess, and respond to students experiencing suicidal ideation or behaviors. Designed to ensure immediate safety and ongoing support, this process brings together school counselors, psychologists, and administrators as a unified decision-making team to evaluate risk, coordinate an action plan, and connect students with appropriate supports and resources.
Effective suicide prevention extends beyond a single protocol. PPS supports a comprehensive approach that includes school-wide prevention, suicide screening and intervention, crisis response, lethal means safety, and postvention. Learn more about each core area below.
