IMMINENT WARNING SIGNS/HIGH RISK BEHAVIORS

Severe rage for seemingly minor reasons
Possession and/or use of firearms
Sexual aggressiveness (perpetrator or at risk for potential perpetration)
Severe destruction of property

Severe alcohol and/or other drug impairment
Serious self-injurious behaviors or threats of suicide
Student admits to a plan or method to hurt others and/or detailed threats of lethal violence






CONTEXTUAL CONSIDERATIONS MUST ALWAYS BE WELL THOUGHT OUT WHEN PLANNING STUDENT SUPPORTS

Behaviors:
Poor academic performance
Low school interest


Sudden changes in school attendance
Lack of interest in things he/she used to enjoy
Little to no affect displayed
Easily distracted
Hyperactive
Stealing from others
Frequent lying
Animal abuse
Running away from home
History of discipline problems
Expression of violence in writing and drawing
Preoccupation with death











Feelings/Thoughts:
Excessive feelings of isolation
Excessive feelings of rejection
Feelings of being picked on and persecuted
Uncontrolled anger
Persistent sadness/depression
Anxiety/nerviousness
Rapid mood Swings
Obsessive or compulsive thoughts
Intolerance for differences








Physical Concerns/Symptoms:
Frequent complaints about physical aches and pains
Unaccounted weight loss or gain
Disordered eating
Sleep disturbances/nightmares
Wetting/soiling self at school
Lack of attention to hygiene, grooming
Dull, watery, dialated, droopy or bloodshot eyes
Drug use and/or alcohol use
Sees or hears things that are not present
Altered perception of time, space, sights, etc.

Social Interations:
Social withdrawal/isolation
Family conflict
No friends or difficulty making/keeping friends
Recent change to peer group
History of violent and aggressive behavior (fighting)
Afiliation with gangs
Sexual inapproriateness/lack of boundaries
Patterns of impulsive/chronic hitting, biting, intimidating and/or bullying
