Illness and Communicable Disease Response

Everyday Prevention Matters
Families can help prevent the spread of illness by encouraging regular handwashing, covering coughs and sneezes, keeping masks available if needed, and staying home when sick.

PPS works closely with the Multnomah County Health Department (MCHD) and the Multnomah Education Service District (MESD) to monitor illness trends and notify families if additional steps are needed due to a contagious disease.

Consistent attendance is key to student success. By keeping children home when sick and staying up to date on vaccinations, families help protect their child and our entire school community.
Together, we can keep PPS schools healthy, safe, and focused on learning.
