PPS School-Based Health Centers
Portland Public Schools (PPS) believes students learn best when they are healthy, supported, and able to access care where they spend most of their day, at school. Through strong partnerships with healthcare providers and community agencies, PPS houses six School-Based Health Centers (SBHCs) that provide convenient, high-quality medical and mental health services for students and families (see the map above for locations).
School-Based Health Centers remove common barriers to care such as transportation, cost, scheduling, and confidentiality concerns. By bringing services directly onto school campuses, PPS is investing in student wellness, academic success, and long-term community health.
PPS currently partners with two trusted medical organizations to operate these Health Centers across the district, ensuring students have access to care in familiar and supportive environments.
PPS is committed to expanding equitable access to healthcare for students across the district and continuing to grow innovative partnerships that support whole-child success.

Medical Sponors
OHSU Benson Wellness Center
The Benson Wellness Center is a certified School-Based Health Center sponsored by Oregon Health & Science University OHSU and located at Benson Polytechnic High School. OHSU Family Medicine providers serve as the clinic’s staff. The clinic also includes a mental health counselor, a school nurse, and a social worker - staff members provided by the Multnomah County Health Department, Multnomah Education Service District and Portland Public Schools. School-based health clinics such as Benson’s offer easy access to health care in a school setting. This helps remove concerns about cost, transportation or confidentiality that might keep young people from getting the services they need.
The Benson Wellness Center sees all students and community members ages 0-21, regardless of ability to pay. They accept all insurance plans and can see uninsured patients.

Multnomah County Student Health Centers
Multnomah County Health Department partners with Portland Public Schools to provide high-quality primary and mental health services at Cleveland, Franklin, Jefferson, McDaniel, and Roosevelt high schools. Student Health Centers are like having a regular doctor’s office at school. We serve all K-12 Multnomah County youth ages 5 to 18 with or without insurance. There are no out-of-pocket costs for our services. We welcome all colors, all genders, all sizes, and all cultures regardless of immigration status. Students don’t need to attend the school where the center is located to receive services. Student Health Centers provide many services including:
- COVID-19 vaccines and testing
- Routine physical exams, including sports physicals
- Early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of illness and injury
- Vision, dental, and blood pressure screenings
- Immunizations
- Mental health services
- Age-appropriate reproductive health
- Routine lab tests
- Prescription medications
- Health education, counseling, and wellness promotion
- Fitness and nutrition education and counseling
- Referrals for health care services not provided at the clinics

Multnomah County Primary Care Clinics
In addition to Student Health Centers, Multnomah County Primary Care Clinics provide low-cost family health care at seven locations. They provide care to underserved, low-income, and uninsured residents of Multnomah County.

School may be out, but health care is still in session.
Families can continue accessing medical and behavioral health services this summer through the OHSU Benson Wellness Center and select Multnomah County Student Health Centers.
