Degrees and Certifications:
I have been a Vice-Principal at Cleveland High School since the summer of 2016. Before coming to Cleveland, I spent eight years with the Instruction, Curriculum and Assessment Department at PPS, six years as a Mathematics Curriculum Specialist and the last two years as Assistant Director of STEAM. Prior to this, I spent 18 years in the classroom as a Mathematics teacher. I earned both my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and my Masters of Teaching Mathematics from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon.
I am inspired by the Yeats quote, “Education is not the filling of the bucket, but the lighting of a fire.” Every day I strive to support staff and students to ignite their passion, find their path and to fully engage in the educational experiences around them. Some of my responsibilities at Cleveland include: Athletics, 9th Grade Academies, Technology, Master Schedule and Essential Skills.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two teen-aged sons, both of who have always attended school in PPS. I enjoy kayaking, camping, gardening and playing games, especially Pinochle and Mah Jongg.
I am fortunate to be a part of the Cleveland community and look forward to continuing to serve this school community.
