Gintz/Arditi Newsletter
September 2019
It has been such a joy getting to know your kindergarten student during their first month of kindergarten. They are getting to know their classroom community, learn new skills, and have fun doing it!
Reading: Students are learning letters and their corresponding sounds. We have also introduced reading CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words and memorizing sight words. In our whole group, mini-lessons the students are learning how to “read to self” and recognize concepts of print.
Writing: Our students are a community of writers! They are drawing personal narrative stories and beginning to label important details by sounding out the words.
Math: Students are counting, writing, and gaining number sense to 10 and beyond through partner games, math talks, and student workbooks.
Science: The students have collected leaves, observed the colors/shapes, dug in soil, and will begin to learn about the different types of trees! Stay tuned to hear about our Garden and Makerspace projects connected to this science unit.
Important Reminders:
Coats: As the weather gets cooler, each student needs to bring a coat to school. We go out to recess & Brain Break rain or shine!
Dance (THURSDAY): Our students take their shoes off for dance. On Thursdays, we would love for students to come in shoes that are easy for them to take off and put back on themselves. Thank you!
Fun Run: The Fun Run is on Friday September 27th! You can help our school raise money by registering at: faubionbulldogs.walkstarter.org
Attendance: It is important to have your child to school on time (9:00am) so we can all start our day together and build community. If you are going to be late, please let the office or teacher know via email.
Thank you for your support!
