I was hired as Principal of Cleveland High School in the Summer of 2017. Prior to my work as a Principal, I served as a Vice Principal of Wilson High School for five years and before that I was a Vice Principal at Gresham High School in east county for five years. I taught high school social studies for ten years at large comprehensive public high schools before becoming a school administrator. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York and a Master of Education from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
As an educator, I am deeply committed to providing the best education for all students at Cleveland High School in order that they can successfully reach their post-secondary goals. I maintain a laser-like focus on closing the achievement gap at CHS and on behalf of our historically underserved students. Some of my responsibilities as Principal of include: Professional Development, Hiring, International Baccalaureate Program, Emergency Preparedness, School Finances and Budget, Site Council, Instructional Leadership Team, school Comprehensive Achievement Plan (CAP), and Community Relations.
I spend much of my time outside of Cleveland High School with my two teen-aged daughters who are also high school age youth in PPS. We enjoy all sorts of adventures including backpacking, hiking, snowboarding/skiing, and road-tripping around the Pacific NW. Other than my daughters and my work at CHS, I also squeeze time in for a yoga practice, sitar playing, and vegan cooking. I have a love of history, documentary films, culture, art, language, and international politics.
I am honored to be the Principal of Cleveland High School and look forward to many years of serving this school community.
