COVID 19 Update:
Summer Reading IS Happening! Here is a video I recorded with Multnomah County Youth Librarian Brianne Williams regarding all the details for how to participate in the Summer Reading Game. Here is an open access copy of the video.
Have you been working on your science fair project while learning from home?
The time and place have arrived where you can share your project. The place is in the Forest Park Library Media Google Classroom. Within the google classroom there is a Science Fair Topic and Post that includes a Flip Grid. The Flip Grid settings have been set for up to 10 mins of recording time. Anytime is the time to load your project to the flipgrid. Miss Laura will approve the post and it will then be live on Flipgrid. We look forward to viewing your work.

Click on the google doc link for some resources I curated with the Forest Park students and families in mind: Newly added a link to the AMAZING British Library Harry Potter Exhibit!!
It includes a Mo Willems daily lunch doodle and a learning at home road map from Common Sense Media.
Here is an email I recieved from the Multnomah County Youth Librarian with whom I collaborate:Hi Laura,I hope you both are doing OK during this crazy time. I wanted to make sure you knew about these resources from Multnomah County Library that might be useful for your families:This infographic explains how to use your phone number to get an immediate library card so you can access free ebooks from home using the Libby app. I've attached a pdf of the same infographic in Spanish. We're buying more copies of ebooks every day, but use is also increasing, so your families may have to place holds on ebooks. If they are looking for something that is available immediately, here is a list of the ebooks for kids and teens that are ALWAYS available because we have unlimited copies of them.If your families want access to more than ebooks (like our streaming services like Kanopy and Hoopla or our language learning software like Mango Languages or Tumblebooks' Read-along picture books), they can get a full-access library card remotely now, on the library's website. Please let me know if there is anything else we can do to support you! This is such a tough time for families and schools and I'd love to help out.Take good care of yourself,Brianne

Welcome to the Forest Park Library!!
I am thrilled to serve your student as the Forest Park Library Media Specialist! I look forward to helping your student become a critical thinker, enthusiastic reader, skillful researcher, and ethical user of information.
I will be teaching library lessons weekly. During this time I will teach them how to find and use resources, use the research process, appreciate literature and more. Our wonderful library assistant Tricia Dowling will be in the library additional hours.
Please encourage your child to to enjoy and take care of our library materials and return them for more. The books are checked out for 2 weeks. Most times students return them weekly for new books. Late fines and lost book fees will be managed by School Pay this year. Please do not pay fines or books fees until the books are certain to be lost. It will be quite challenging to make changes to student accounts once a payment has been made.
We LOVE having parent volunteers in the library. We need help with shelving books, assisting students in locating books, and support for various library activities including author visits. Our parent volunteer Mette Pederson runs our Forest Park Birthday Book Club. Look for letters home during your child’s birthday season regarding this thriving library program.
For more information, please call me at 503-916-5400 ext. 73368. The school library webpage is available as well. It provides many eBooks for use on devices.
