The start of every new school year is always filled with much anticipation and excitement. Our team has been busy over the summer planning and preparing. Teachers and staff participated in professional development and summer training opportunities. Many of our students will be returning to newly constructed or renovated campuses… We are ready for a joyful school year!

With our intentional focus on high-quality instruction in service of educational equity, this is an exciting year that will continue to move us towards realizing our vision (PPS reImagined) and preparing all students to realize all of the elements of our graduate portrait. Our instructional priorities include our new instructional framework, curriculum adoptions, and aligned teacher professional learning. You can learn more on this webpage.

As we approach the first day of school, we are sharing with you information to have a strong start to the school year:

School Year Calendar and First Day Reminders

Tuesday, August 30th is the first day of school for most PPS students.

    • Tuesday, August 30th - First day of school for grades 1st-5th, 6th, 9th, and 12th.
    • Wednesday, August 31st - First day for 7th, 8th, 10th, and 11th grades.
    • Tuesday, September 6th - First day for Kindergarten.
    • Kindergarten has a ramp up between Aug 30-Sept 2 where families should each be invited to have a 1:1 connection with their Kindergarten teacher and students should each be invited to a practice day in their classroom.
    • Monday, September 12th - First day for Pre-Kindergarten and Head Start.

Here is a link to our 2022-23 PPS Calendar

    Meals

While the US congress did not extend all free meals to all students this school year, we were able to have 53 schools and programs approved as Community Eligibility Provision (CEP).

PPS will be able to offer a daily free breakfast and lunch to every enrolled student at these locations without the need to complete paperwork. You can see the full list of eligible schools here.

For those not attending the 53 schools participating in the CEP, your children may qualify for free meals or for reduced price meals. Click here to access the 2022-23 Confidential Family Application for Free and Reduced-Price Meals.

    Buses

If your student is eligible for bus service, please make sure to know your bus stop and schedule. The transportation team created this page for you to access your bus routes. You can also visit our Transportation FAQ page

If you have a student with an IEP or specialized transportation service, please contact transportation@pps.net.

    Mental Wellness - Resources Available

We care about our student’s wellness. There are people and community organizations who can support you and your family. Connect with any of the supports listed here and/or share your concerns with your medical provider.

    Student Tech Devices

Every PPS student grades three to twelve has access to a free tech device to access digital curriculum and online resources. If your student needs a device, please contact your school. You will be expected to sign an User Agreement acknowledging that you received a device.

Please note that PPS is removing the $20 device self-insurance fee that was previously announced by school communities. Families will not be asked nor are required to pay this fee and those families that have paid this fee will receive a refund. Depending on how a payment was made will determine how the refund is issued; so our school and district teams will be working diligently over the next few weeks to process. Please ignore the section of the current form covering payment and repairs while we work to update the form. We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding.

The PPS Multilingual Family Line is a service for parents or guardians (in all PPS-supported languages) to communicate with schools regarding meals, tech help for online classes, special instruction, talking to your teacher, COVID resources and other information, etc.  Need help? Call us:
