Elyse Newport grew up in Woodburn Oregon. She has always loved reading, even from a young age. This prepared her for becoming an English teacher. Newport worked in the special education department for a year before teaching English. This will be her sixth year doing so. She teaches Creative Writing for seniors and English 3 - 4 for sophomores. In her free time she enjoys trying the food in Portland with her wife. Newport also enjoys doing yoga. “What’s necessary is rarely easy,” said Newport. She continued and said, “Do the hard stuff.”
