What is Summer Acceleration Academy?
- Summer Acceleration Academy (SAA) is a no cost supplemental academic summer program focused on providing support for unfinished learning for current Kindergarten through Fifth grade students enrolled in PPS schools.
- The student day includes:
- Targeted literacy instruction based on student needs (Kindergarten & 1st grade students in DLI classrooms will receive this instruction in Spanish);
- Math instruction focused on skill and language development, and building positive mathematical mindsets through discourse and writing;
- Hands-on project-based STEAM learning with Lego Robotics; and
- Social-Emotional Learning activities.
- Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all participating students.
- Transportation will be provided in the morning from neighborhood elementary schools.
Who attends Summer Acceleration Academy?
- SAA invites students currently enrolled in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade whose Winter literacy assessments indicate a need for additional support.
- The students in current grades K-5 who will be invited to participate in Summer Acceleration Academy are students who fall below grade level in reading, based on Winter 2026 literacy assessments.
- Special Program Eligibility: In addition to student groups listed above, the following groups are automatically eligible or prioritized for enrollment:
- Newcomers (3–8): Students who moved to the U.S. within the last 2 years.
- Indian Education (K–8): All students within this program qualify.
- Siblings (K–5): Siblings of enrolled SAA students (if space allows).
- Accommodations will be made for students who experience disabilities.
- Enrollment for SAA is by invitation only.
When is Summer Acceleration Academy?
- The program will run Monday through Friday from June 29 - July 30, 2026 from 7:45am - 12:30pm (closed July 3rd and 31st).
- Families will have the opportunity to opt into afternoon enrichment programming at no cost from 12:30pm - 5:30pm. Space will be limited and a commitment to attendance is required.

- SAA is hosted at four sites in the district, using a hub site model to cluster schools within geographic areas together for programming

- Invitations for Summer Acceleration Academy are based on mid-year assessments identifying students who need support reaching grade level standards in reading during this supplemental summer program.
