  • UNCF Portfolio Project

The "UNCF Portfolio Project” is a signature college preparatory program for students that will be high school juniors and seniors in the fall.  They offer a 13-week curriculum-based program providing knowledge and tools to navigate the college process and beyond.

We will be hosting an information session here at Franklin HS on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, from 1:30 to 2:30 pm in the College and Career Center. Students who are interested in attending should contact me directly.  I can write them a pass to have them excused from class to attend the presentation. Students who attend the presentation will also be eligible to win Nike Air Jordan and other prizes. Students must sign up with me by the end of the day on Monday, May 22, 2023, at 4:00 pm.

The Portfolio Project is an 11-week in-person program that helps students understand the college admissions & application process. They assist with writing college essays, applying for financial aid, finding scholarships and much more. Students will also be paired with a mentor to support them through the program.

  • Congratulations, Franklin Choir!

The Franklin singers and choir had an outstanding year!

The Concert Choir, Armonia, performed a beautiful and diverse set of music at the PIL large choir festival and qualified for the OSAA State choir competition.

The chamber choir, Freshaire, and Treble Duet, Freya M. and Audrey P. qualified and performed at the Oregon Music Educators Association State Ensemble Festival at Mt Hood Community College. Both ensembles represented Franklin High School with excellence.

Soprano Crea S and Alto Freya M. qualified and performed at the OSAA State Solo competition. Both singers sang expressively.  Freya M. took 4th place in the Alto category.

Congratulations to these fine ensembles and singers!

  • Safe Routes to School

Safe Routes to School is a national program started in 2000 engaging schools and communities to improve, educate, and encourage students and families to safely walk or roll to school and elsewhere in the community. Safe Routes to School makes it safe, convenient and fun for children of all abilities to bicycle, walk, and roll to school and around their neighborhoods.

As the PPS SRTS program continues to grow, we are engaging with the PPS community and local partners to develop a vision for the program and collect input on strategies for enacting that vision. The PPS SRTS Steering Committee will meet for four one-hour virtual meetings to collaborate on topics including:

    • Fostering buy-in and understanding of SRTS
    • Determining roles and responsibilities for creating an SRTS program
    • Brainstorming program priorities
    • Identifying opportunities for collaboration
First Meeting will be Wednesday, May 31, time: TBD.

If this is something you're passionate about and you're interested in participating in, we'd love to have your input!

Please contact Shane Nevius at by May 19th if you have questions and/or are interested.
