Safe Routes to School
5/10/2023Safe Routes to School is a national program started in 2000 engaging schools and communities to improve, educate, and encourage students and families to safely walk or roll to school and elsewhere in the community. Safe Routes to School makes it safe, convenient and fun for children of all abilities to bicycle, walk, and roll to school and around their neighborhoods.
As the PPS SRTS program continues to grow, we are engaging with the PPS community and local partners to develop a vision for the program and collect input on strategies for enacting that vision. The PPS SRTS Steering Committee will meet for four one-hour virtual meetings to collaborate on topics including:
- Fostering buy-in and understanding of SRTS
- Determining roles and responsibilities for creating an SRTS program
- Brainstorming program priorities
- Identifying opportunities for collaboration
First Meeting will be Wednesday, May 31, time: TBD.If this is something you're passionate about and you're interested in participating in, we'd love to have your input!
Please contact Shane Nevius at snevius@pps.net by May 19th if you have questions and/or are interested.
