  • COMING SOON: KIDS HEART CHALLENGE

The American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge program will be kicking off with an all-school assembly on Thursday, February 2nd. This year, we’ll be running the program a bit differently. Rather than have students win “Thank You Gifts" (keychains, toys, jump ropes etc.) from the American Heart Association, we will be working towards a school goal all together as a team. Our school goal is to raise $10,000 to support the American Heart Association.

We will have fun experiences for the students along the way as they learn about heart health and helping others.

    Special School Incentives:

    1. Any student that registers and picks their challenge to Be Active or Be Kind will earn a Be The Torch Wristband!

    2. The class with the most participation will earn a Free Choice PE!

    3. And any student that completes Finn’s Mission will get to silly string Mr. Lewis and Ms. Martin!

    4. If we reach our school goal of $10,000 we will have a special field day for our K-5 students!

We encourage every student and family to register online to learn Hands-Only CPR as a family through FINN’S MISSION.

Register today on the FREE Kids Heart Challenge App or at http://www2.heart.org/goto/Laurelhurst

  • VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR LUNCH DUTY!

We’ve had a steady decline in lunch volunteers this school year, and we would love to see more of you in the cafeteria with our students! More helping hands helps our lunches go smoothly and safely. Sign up for a shift (or two or three!) here.

  • SUCCESSFUL SCHOOLS SURVEY - THIS WEEK

You will be receiving links for the 2023 Successful Schools Survey in just a few days. We are hoping that ALL families will participate in the survey. By participating in the survey, you are letting us know how we as a school are doing in key areas such as community engagement, communication, school climate, and school safety. Your feedback is extremely important to us! Students in grades 3-8 will also be completing the survey during class. Click here for more information about the survey and how the results are used.

K- 5 students will bring home their report cards and middle school grades will be posted in Synergy on Friday, February 3rd.

  • ANTI-RACIST CAREGIVING WORKSHOP

Please join us in a conversation about the ways racism impacts our children’s lives and how we can shape our caregiving to better address these issues. This workshop will focus on the three ways we know children learn: 1) Modeling; 2) Teachable Moments; 3) Made Moments.

We will give examples, using these modalities, to address racism and white supremacy for children ages 5-15ish.
