LETTER FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Dear Glencoe Families,
I hope this last newsletter of December finds you ready for some quality time with your family. It seems early to be heading off for the winter holidays but I am always grateful for some additional time with family and friends.
As you know, our students continue to fill the Gull Gallery with tickets earned for their acts of inclusion, care, collaboration and perseverance. Today was the day they received their third school-wide reward (hot chocolate and marshmallows) for filling the box. Ms. Gardner and I have enjoyed delivering hot chocolate to all of the classrooms. We were so impressed, but not surprised, by all of the “thank yous” that naturally came from our students. These types of activities are memory-making for our students. They take a great deal of collaboration and we love them. I want to thank the staff for bringing their crockpots and the office staff for all the extra duties they did today to make this happen.
Finally, I wanted to let you know that PPS is rescheduling the project to paint over the murals. One of the artists has granted us permission to paint over the murals with which he assisted. The other artist has retained an attorney regarding the mural projects he facilitated. At this point, the district’s legal counsel will be working with the artist to determine next steps. Unfortunately, this has brought some unwanted attention and security concerns regarding building access. Once the office closes, at 4:00 the front door will be locked. If your child participates in a program that ends after 4:00, your child will be brought to the front doors for dismissal. I apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.
Happy Holidays! I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year!
All after school classes information can be found online. Each class has a link to the after school program registration page. Some classes begin the first week we are back.
January 7-8th, 2019 is our next restaurant partner with Pastini (see below). 50% of the net proceeds will go to Glencoe (please make sure you mention Glencoe Elementary for us to get the credit).
