    LETTER FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

    Dear Glencoe Families,

What a pleasure it has been spending time this week at Glencoe.  The students are polite, smart and happy to be at school.  The staff is hard-working which is reflected in the outstanding instruction in each classroom. As this is my neighborhood school, I realize even more how fortunate we are to live in such an inclusive neighborhood.

    Sincerely,

    Elizabeth Casson-Taylor

    PPS Substitute Principal

    CONNECT TO KINDERGARTEN

Our first Connect to Kindergarten will be February 6, 2019 at 6:00 PM. This is a parents only event of incoming kinders.

    TAG TESTING

2019 TAG testing for Glencoe will be on February 5th & 7th. SBAC scores are used for 4-5 grade students; however, for the other grades, a proctor will be pulling students from classes on one or both of these 2 days. The proctor makes the schedule.  We do not have exact information of time(s) and day(s) for your specific child. It's important that your child is at school on time for both of these dates. Results will then be mailed to parents.  This process usually takes a month or two. Next the building TAG committee will meet and look at work samples and testing results.  Our recommendations will then be sent to the district and they make the final decision and notify parents.

    PTA NEWS

Join us at our next general meeting, February 13, 2019 at 6:30 PM.

We are recruiting new board members for the 2019-2020 school year. Board positions are 2 year terms. Open positions include President, Vice President, and Family Ambassador. Contact our nomination chair Veronica Green if you would like to get involved or nominate a friend!

    GLENCOE AUCTION

Auction tickets now on sale!  Saturday, February 23, 5:30 PM, World Forestry Center. Come help the school raise money for staffing! Click here to buy now!

    Wall of Wine donations

The committee is currently accepting donated bottles of wine with a value of $15 or more for the Wall of Wine. Committee members will be out in front of the school accepting drive-up and walk-up donations during pick-up and drop-off on January 31 and February 1. Questions, contact Tiffany Munk.

    Dessert Dash

A few spots are left to create a special dessert for the Dessert Dash at the auction. This is your time to share your gift of baking AND make money for our school. Each individual auction table will be bidding to win the chance to be the first to pick a dessert for their table. So, the idea is, the better the dessert, the more money we will raise! You are welcome to bake a dessert or purchase something and donate (think JaCiva, Papa Haydn, Blue Star).  Interested, contact Veronica Green.

    PRESCHOOL STORYTIME

    Toddler Storytime is Back!

We are happy to welcome Glencoe siblings, ages 0-5/not yet in kindergarten, to the Library for a short storytime and book checkout beginning February 6th and each subsequent Wednesday from 8:00 - 8:30. Please sign in at the office after you drop your student off and we'll share a book or two, and then you'll have time to help your young one choose a book to check out and take home. Parents can meet up with old friends, or make new connections. I'm looking forward to meeting our future Glencoenians! Please contact me if you have any questions at all. dnewtonp@pps.net (Ms.) Diane
