LETTER FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Dear Glencoe Families,
The month of February is providing us with some interesting weather. We had our first unexpected snow day on Tuesday and it sounds like we many have more this coming week. As a reminder, when inclement weather hits, the district communicates school closures and delays through the district website, local TV and Radio announcements as well as text messages. If you would like to receive texts for school closures or delays you can opt-in to receive them by texting YES to 68453. This is also a good time to remind everyone that we go outside for recess in all kinds of weather. Please make sure your child is coming bundled up with a warm coat, hat and gloves as they will spend anywhere from 15 – 25 minutes outside during a recess.
Our Auction is two weeks away and we have yet to meet our goal for ticket sales. We need to sell 70 more tickets to reach our goal of 200 tickets sold. Our Auction is our largest fundraiser and helps provide much needed supports for our students and staff. Thanks to our generous community we have been able to hire a Reading Specialist each year to support our struggling readers in grades K-3. We have also been able to provide tech support to keep our computer lab up and running and fix technology issues as they arise. I want to give a shout out to the Auction Committee for all the efforts and behind the scenes work they’ve been doing to put together a wonderful evening. If you haven’t bought a ticket yet, please do. It is for a great cause – our students!
NEWS FROM THE MUSIC ROOM
4th and 5th Grade Parents:
If your child was in music class back in December when we made our clay shakers, PLEASE send a dish towel with your child next week (or if snow happens, the week after). This will give a little protection to the project as it makes its way home. THANK YOU!
Join us at our next general meeting, February 13, 2019 at 6:30 PM.

We have updated the Family Recycling Center located next to the lost and found racks. Add your unwanted shoes, dead batteries, empty printer cartridges and dried up markers to be gathered for recycling. Check back at the recycling center for updates, we will post more information there as we find more resources.
