• Family Bulletin for 10/20

Family Bulletin for the Week of October 20th

We are continuing with our month of student led Anti-Bullying Events. This week is 10/21 Everyone is Included Week!

Teachers are talking with students this week about the topics below. Please ask your child about the ways that they will help Kelly be a more socially inclusive school.

    • Don’t let anyone at school eat alone in the cafeteria or on a school field trip.

    • Include other students in school activities.

    • Invite someone you don’t know that well to sit next to you on the bus.

    • At one point or another each of us has felt insecure or stressed out, alone.  It is important to remind our friends and classmates that we are all in it together and we are there to listen and support each other.

We are grateful to have so many community members that have expressed interest in volunteering at Kelly. If you think you might be interested, fill out this quick survey with some basic information. If you have friends or family members who don’t get this bulletin, but might like to volunteer please send them this link.

    Parent Teacher Conferences

If you don’t yet have a date and time for parent teacher conferences, please connect with your child’s teacher.

Parent/teacher conferences are a great opportunity to meet your child's teacher, see your child's classroom and learn about how your child is doing in school. It's also a great time for you to ask questions or talk about any learning-related concerns. Creating a partnership with your child's teacher around your child's learning can make a big difference.

Here are some helpful tips to consider when attending parent/teacher conferences:

Please help PBOT make travel safer for kids and families around Kelly School: Complete your school travel survey!

Our Safe Routes to School Travel Survey will be conducted completely online this year and moving forward. Responses from travel surveys give our program insight into traffic safety concerns, barriers to walking and biking, and how families are moving around Portland. They are an important aspect of our program's work.

Thanks for taking four minutes from your day to share how you and your family move around the city!
