    Hoodies Up Day- February 5th

    In honor of Trayvon Martin’s birthday and Black LIves Matter at School Week of Action Kelly staff, students, and families are invited to wear their Hoodies Up on Wednesday, February 5th.  

     

    February CARE Theme is Kindness!

    Our Kelly Student Leadership team will be coming together to plan activities for kindness all month long. We can’t wait to share their ideas with you!  

     

    Kelly Community Coffee this Friday at Drop Off

    Come join Kelly families and administration for our monthly Kelly Community Coffee. We will share our Caring School Community Surveys and seeking input about next years’ program. We would love to have you join us!

    We are gearing up for Kindergarten 2020-2021! 

    Do you have or know of a student who is getting ready for kindergarten next year? PPS is getting ready to meet our newest students. Please join us at Kelly for our first Connect to Kindergarten on February 18th at 5:30. We welcome all to come and learn about our Russian Immersion and English programs.

    Kelly Building Safety

    A huge thank you to our community who continues to support school bonds to improve health and safety in our schools! Over the coming months you can expect to see:

    • Additional exterior cameras and motion sensor lights
    • Electronic ADA accessible front door access
    • All exterior doors locked with a buzzer system for the main office doors. 
    • Extensive roof repairs/replacement

    Kelly Food Pantry needs a Food Pantry Assistant.  

    This position will be responsible for day-to-day operations of SUN School Food Pantry programs at four sites. Tasks include: placing and picking up food orders each week, overseeing

    food distributions one evening per week, and under the direction of the SUN School Site Manager, assist with managing the Food Pantry volunteers.

    AGES: 0-5 year-olds AND a parent/caregiver

     

    LOCATION:  Room #29 in Kelly Center HeadStart (9015 SE Rural St.)

     

    This is a facilitated play group for parents to come play and learn alongside their children and connect with other parents in a supportive environment. At least one adult must participate with each child. Snacks are provided. Feel free to register beforehand, or just show up!

    You want to help and give to your community?  Join us and help in the Kelly Food Pantry. Things needing help with: restocking, checking expiration dates, unloading Portland Food Project food and Oregon Food Bank orders.

    Free reflective stickers available at upcoming events

    Darker days bring a greater risk of crashes. To help make us all more visible, Portland Bureau of Transportation will be providing retro-reflective stickers that you can apply to outerwear, strollers, backpacks, bikes, helmets, canes, or walkers at the following community events:

    PORTLAND FOOD PROJECT NEEDS VOLUNTEERS!

    Saturday, February 8th, 10:00am - 2:00pm, 

    at NE Food Pantry located at 4800 NE 72nd Ave, Portland, OR 97218

    You want to give to our community?  There is no better event then the Portland Food Project (PFP).  Every two months on the second Saturday of the month community members bring in thousands of pounds of food that gets distributed to over 16 pantries in the Portland area. KELLY FOOD PANTRY IS ONE OF THEM.  Join us and help not just our Kelly families but also the community, as our pantry is opened to everyone

    SUN Office 

    Located at Kelly Center Head Start building in room #28.  If you have questions about the SUN programing, are in need of support with housing, rental, electricity, water or you need more information about resources available in the community, the SUN Office is the place to go.  You can contact SUN Site Manager Cristina Helvie at cristina@latnet.org or (503)780-9813.

     

    P-3 Coordinator Office 

    Located at Kelly Center Head Start Building in room #29. Here you can connect with Emma Mauermann about early learning opportunities/information, kindergarten transition supports, adult classes, community resources and more. The space is often available as a meeting space when needed and there is a laptop with a wifi for community use.     Parent Resource Room 

    Located at Kelly Center Head Start building in room #28 has access to internet, free meeting space with a child-friendly area, opportunities to connect with other parents and SUN staff, receive valuable information about the school, available resources, SUN programming and more.

     

    Food Pantry 

    Located at Kelly Center Head Start building in room 15 is open on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month from 3:30pm-5:00pm unless otherwise noted. If you are in need of food we are here to support you. The pantry is open to the entire community and no pre-registration or proof of income is required. If you are interested in volunteering in our pantry, please contract Cristina Helvie, SUN Site Manager, at cristina@latnet.org or (503) 780-9813.
