Family Bulletin for 04/054/5/2020
Family Bulletin for the Week of April 5th
We miss you and your students! Our school staff have been working very hard in anticipation of tomorrow. Last week teachers worked together to learn a variety of online tools to provide your student with distance learning. The goal is to start connecting with your student online tomorrow, April 6th.
In order for your student to learn from home, they will need an internet connected device such as a tablet, computer, or chromebook. Our school is working hard to identify what your family needs in order to participate in distance learning. Your students should be able to log into Clever. If your student needs a device or is having trouble logging in, please fill out this form to let us know and we will help get you connected.
If you need other supports our school counseling team is here to help you connect. Please let us know how you and your student are doing and what supports you need through the Kelly Check In form.
On April 8th, Kelly Classroom Teachers will post learning activities for each day by 9 am using Seesaw (k-2) or google classroom (3-5). We are using the same daily format to make it simpler for you and your students as we learn how to do this together. We want students to work through the “Must Do” activities and will provide “May Do” activities that you can choose from each day. These activities can be done at any time during the day to provide families with as much flexibility as possible. We are also learning how to use virtual meeting spaces so that we can connect with kids and families as needed in real time. You will learn more about that later this week.
Thank you for your patience during this transition to distance learning. We miss you and can’t wait to connect!
Ms. Whitney and Mrs. Marchyok

During this time of school closure, Champions is currently partnering with Rieke Elementary school and several other locations to provide childcare (pre-k ages 3-4, toilet trained through age 12) for families who work in essential service roles during the Coronavirus crisis. This includes, but is not limited to: health care workers, first responders, mental health specialists, grocery store employees etc. If you are unsure if you fall into the essential services category, please feel free to reach out to me, Sherri Burks at 503-701-3488 or firstname.lastname@example.org and we’d be happy to talk with you.
We have increased safety measures in accordance with CDC guidelines by having OHSU personnel come in and train our custodial staff on increased sanitation methods, and Champions teams on modifying our group games and materials to be safe for the kids to use. We’ve been able to work with the school and utilize the classrooms to maintain a 1:9 ratio in a room, as well as roll our educational curriculum throughout the day. We also do temperature checks for every child and adult that comes through our programs.
Most importantly: we will make sure your kids have a great time, even with these new regulations in place.
If you are interested in care at this time, the following are the locations in our area:
You may view the following map of all the available locations
You do not have to be a current Champions family, and there is no initial enrollment fee. We are also accepting DHS subsidy payments, and would be happy to talk with you if you feel that cost may be a barrier.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have! I look forward to hearing how I can support you during this critical time.
