Welcome Message from Principal Fish7/27/2020
Please read the Welcome Message from Principal Fish.
I am so excited to introduce myself to you as the new Principal of Kelly Elementary! Over the past 19 years in education, I have served as a special education teacher, K-5 literacy resource teacher, district resource teacher, K-5 assistant principal and most recently as a district administrator designing and implementing professional learning frameworks for educators. I believe my role is that of an instructional leader. This means I will be in classrooms getting to know your student, observing how students are learning and what instructional practices are having the most impact.
Over the past couple of months, Kelly staff and families have faced much uncertainty during these unprecedented times. I am aware that staff responded by conducting wellness checks, passing out Chromebooks and hot spots, and providing virtual instruction, including read alouds. Families supported their students at home with digital learning and navigated the learning management systems. We will continue to respond to the challenges we face during this COVID crisis. We will celebrate our successes. And, we will be stronger, together!
Mrs. Marchyok, Assistant Principal, and I are working with school and district staff to explore what worked well in the Spring related to digital learning and what were some challenges. Beginning mid-August, I will schedule virtual open houses for families to “drop in”. This will provide an opportunity to meet one another, for me to hear from you directly regarding the strengths and the challenges of virtual learning, and answer questions you may have regarding the 2020-2021 school year.
Dates and times for these virtual open houses will be communicated via the Remind app as well as the school’s website. In the meantime, let me share my email, email@example.com as well as my work cell phone number, 971-806-9778.
Fall 2020 Plan
We are expecting in the next week some additional guidance from the district regarding the Fall 2020 re-entry plan for students. Once that communication comes out, we will develop and communicate a more comprehensive plan that takes into account the needs of Kelly students, staff and families.
