    November is Native American Heritage Month 

    Oregon is home to many Tribal communities who have been and continue to be an integral part of Oregon’s story since time immemorial. Check out this website for information regarding the history of National Native American Heritage Month and this site offers lesson ideas and resources for educators. 


    • Non-Student Days: Monday, November 23 - Friday, November 27

    • There is no material distribution this Wednesday, November 25. Material distribution will resume, Wednesday, December 2.

    • Food Pantry is open at Kelly - every Monday, 3-4:30 p.m. The food pantry will be open on Mondays when there is school for students. The pantry will be located in the covered area between Kelly Elementary and Kelly Head Start Center. Please wear a mask and follow all COVID guidelines and procedures. 

    • Parent Teacher Conferences are happening November 23 and 24. Please use your student’s PPS email to log into the Google Meet. Teachers are using their nicknamed classrooms for Google Meet conferences unless they communicated otherwise to you. This is the same nickname your student uses everyday for class.  Email your child’s teacher if you need a reminder of day and time of conference. If you have issues next week, please contact your child’s teacher and/or the Kelly office who will be able to support you.

    • ParentVue Verification: please make sure to visit this website to verify your student’s information in ParentVue. This allows you access to attendance, schedule, etc. It also ensures that we have accurate contact information for you.

    • Chess for Success: please take a look at this flyer (Russian) if you are interested in signing your student up for an online chess program through our community partner, Chess for Success.

    • Talented and Gifted (TAG) Nomination Protocol

    • SUN Winter Support - please complete these surveys if you are interested in receiving some support during Winter Break. English  Russian  Vietnamese  Spanish Chinese.     • Grab and Go meal distribution will be here at Kelly Elementary from 3-4:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Meal distribution will be a drive-thru or walk-up service and families can access this through the staff parking lot. Meals are provided FREE for all children, ages 1-18. No meal distribution the week of November 23. 

    • APANO Food Security Program: Now accepting applications here: https://www.jotform.com/form/203011370423033. The purpose of this program is to support households experiencing food insecurity by providing a gift certificate that can be used at a local BIPOC owned and operated restaurant in the Portland/Metro area.     • Thanks to our generous friends at Lyft, The Fund for Portland Public Schools is making available $20-25 in Lyft ride credits to PPS families. In keeping with the guidance set out by the Oregon Governor, we kindly ask that these rides credits are used only to address critical and essential needs. Lyft Code Request Form.

    • Multnomah County Library - Resources for students in Russian Dual Language program

    • We are super excited to offer a book bag program to our students! Please watch this video to learn more about our ‘Let’s Get Reading’ program. You can also view this slideshow for more information:

    • Let’s Get Reading will occur on Mondays and Wednesdays, 1-4 p.m.  Check our website for which half of the alphabet comes this week. Please come through the parking lot to pick up your book bag and observe masking and social distancing measures.

    Do you need a COVID test

    • COVID Testing -  In partnership with Multnomah County Health Department, Latino Network is hosting a COVID testing every Saturday from now until June 2021. People must have symptoms or been in close contact with a diagnosed COVID patient. The phone number for scheduling is 503-988-9093 and is run by Multnomah County.
