    October 13, 2022 - Kelly Family Newsletter

Together, we will - Together, we grow and thrive - Вместе мы растём и развиваемся.

    Dear Families,

We have had a few instances of students bringing vitamins, drinks with vitamin powder or energy drinks to school. Please do not send these items with students as they can cause harmful side effects. Water, juice, milk are the best options to send with students in plastic containers (no glass).

Welcome to our new Drama Teacher: Mr. Miles

    Dear Kelly Families,

Hello! My name is Teacher Miles and I’m the new drama teacher here at Kelly Elementary. I am very excited to join this community and I already feel so supported by the amazing staff. I am a new teacher with a background in performing arts. I grew up in Massachusetts and then spent many years in Los Angeles after graduating from California Institute of the Arts with my BFA in Acting. Over the course of this year, students at Kelly will be moving through several realms of drama: performing, writing, and directing, to name a few. Although there will not be a school-wide production this year, there will be several opportunities for students to perform both traditional and original drama works.

That’s all for now! I will be sending out newsletters every few weeks this year to keep you updated on what is happening in drama class. I aim to foster joy and curiosity towards drama this year with the students at Kelly and to provide an opportunity for students to express themselves in a safe and welcoming environment. I’ve only been here a week but I’m already excited about and impressed with the students’ willingness to step out of their comfort zone and explore their creativity. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns at mhartfelder@pps.net or through the Remind communication app.

    Thank you,

    Teacher Miles

Our first bell is at 8:35 and that’s when students will be allowed on campus to enter the building. Families, please say “goodbye” to your child at the gate. Families are not allowed inside the school during arrival.

    Dismissal

Dismissal is at 3pm. Kindergarten through 2nd grade students are dismissed under the covered area. Third through fifth grade students dismiss out of the parking lot doors. The older students often meet up with families and siblings at a designated location. After 3:07pm, any remaining student is brought to the front of the school outside of the main entrance. The office closes at 3:30pm so all students MUST be picked up no later than 3:30. If you have an emergency and are going to be late, please call our office to notify them.

Please see this link for additional traffic safety reminders. Student safety is our #1 priority. Students should not cross the street except at designated crosswalks.
