• Online Learning Starts Monday, April 6th

    Dear Jason Lee Families,

We’ve been thinking about you a ton the past few weeks and we hope that everyone has been able to stay safe and healthy during this time. Our teachers have been working hard to prepare for our transition to online learning, which begins this Monday, April 6th. In the first week, you can expect teachers to begin to build classroom systems and routines, and to get students accustomed to the online platforms we’ll be using, including Seesaw and Google Classroom.

For us, school is more than just the learning that occurs in classrooms, it’s also the community that we’ve built, and the traditions that make our school so special. Although our brick and mortar building is closed, we’ll continue to do daily morning announcements, to shout out birthdays, and to hold those big events that students look forward to, like our Talent Show and Leopard of the Month Awards Ceremony.

We know that this can be a difficult time for students, so we’re making Social Emotional Learning an important piece of the online work that we’ll be doing moving forward. Mr. Doherty, our school counselor, will continue to create lessons for students, and all teachers are taking part in a professional development on how to support students during this time.

Finally, we want to make sure that we’re engaging our parents too. We’ll still be having our Coffee Connections, although virtually, on Tuesday, April 14th, in addition to a new parent website that we’ve created to help you navigate the different online classrooms. You can find that here: https://sites.google.com/pps.net/jasonleeonline/home with some tutorials from Mr. Robertson on how to log on and access Seesaw or Google Classrooms.

As a parent myself, I know how stressful it can be to navigate this new normal - From keeping students engaged in learning while working yourself, to also keeping them active and healthy, even with having to stay inside most of the day. It’s difficult but you’re doing a good job! You have to believe that! We’ll look back on this time one day and have fond memories about all of the time that we got to spend with our kids.

We’re in this together, and I’m thankful that I get to continue working with this wonderful community year after year.

    Mr. Cardona

    Principal of Jason Lee
