• Ms. Penley's Resignation Letter

    Dear Marysville Community,

It is with mixed emotions that I write to you today to inform you of my plans to leave Marysville.  I have come to this decision after much contemplation, as I love Marysville through and through, and have had the privilege of serving this community for the past 11 years.

During that time, we have experienced both challenges and triumphs.  After the devastating fire in 2009, displacement from our building and neighborhood for three years, and, ultimately, returning to a rebuilt Marysville, we chose mindfulness as the foundation for our path forward. Through the lens of mindfulness, we have created a unique and extraordinary school culture. Our scores are up, our office referrals have dramatically declined, and our teacher retention rate is among the highest in the district.  There is a lot to be proud of, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have been a part of this journey.

I have spent more than a decade here, and I hope in some small way have left a positive impact. I can tell you, without a doubt, I have received far more than I have given.  I have changed as a person and grown as a leader. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as your Principal and for trusting me with your children. Marysville is something so special and may we never take it for granted.

Marysville will always have my heart. I wish all of you the best.
