A message from Portland Public Schools

    March 30, 2021

    From the Principal

Today I am writing to share some important updates about the Richmond Reopening plans. We’ve been working hard the last few weeks, including last week, to prepare for the return of students to in-person instruction. There is a lot of information in this Bulletin to share, so please take some time to read. We’ll have all hands on deck on Thursday, April 1, Friday, April 2, and Monday, April 5 in order to assist students and families with a safe arrival to and dismissal from school. Here are some highlights:

    • You’ll find our detailed Hybrid Safety Maps which include an overview of the arrival and dismissal procedures and the location of the designated entrances/exits for each class.
    • We’re also providing an updated (and abridged) version of our Family & Community Handbook specific to Hybrid/CDL that has much more detail on many topics.
    • Finally, and perhaps most important for the students coming in-person, here’s a link to a new electronic format for our Dismissal/Bus Plan system (formerly known as the After-School Plan.) It is a hopefully easy Google Form that we need completed for every in-person student BEFORE their first day on campus so we know how they should be released at the end of their sessions (bus, authorized pick-up, etc.) We’ve layered in Bus Route/Stop info that we hope will result in our capacity to generate Bus Tags so families do not have to write one. The Form will also be used for Temporary or Permanent Changes in Dismissal Plans, so you may want to bookmark it.

The information in these resources is important for everyone, whether your student is remaining in CDL or joining us for In-Person Hybrid Instruction. IF you need help with the form or notice a glitch we should fix, or other elements of the Handbook and/or Maps please email AP Alicia Kyoto sensei at amcmillen@pps.net.

As a general reminder, In-Person Hybrid instruction for AM cohort students in grades K & 1 will begin on Thursday, April 1, 2021. In-Person Hybrid instruction for PM cohort students in grades K & 1 will begin on Friday, April 2, 2021. All other students will begin In-Person Hybrid instruction on Monday, April 5, 2021.

CDL students will begin their schedules (which may have some changes) on Monday, April 5, 2021. Teachers will communicate CDL schedules directly with the families of their students this week.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership,

Super Green Team - Spring Plant Sale!

The spring plant sale has begun and will extend through April 10th. All orders are online through the PTA Store:

Pick-up is scheduled for May 7th at Bleeding Hearts Kettlebell Club  SE 50th Ave/Lincoln (Richmond family business!). You will drive up and we will load your plants into your vehicle. There will be a sign-up closer to the pick-up date.

One caveat:  The greenhouse, New Leaf Greenhouse, has been sold and options are fewer. They are selling their bestsellers this year:  tomatoes, vegetables, geraniums, and planters.
