Principal's Message 11.8.1811/8/2018
Dear Rieke Families,
We have recently had a couple of close calls of cars turning and not paying attention to pedestrians with the right of way in the crosswalk at the intersection of Vermont and Bertha. The solution being proposed is requesting the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) install a left turn and a right turn signal at the intersection. This will enable students and adults to cross the road safely.
We are urging anyone who would like to promote a safer crossing for pedestrians to complete this survey for PBOT. The survey deadline is Nov. 10.
Raise a (Returnable) Beverage for Rieke!
The Rieke Playground Committee is working hard on plans for exciting playscape improvements. You can help by participating in our Thanksgiving returnable drive. Simply pick up a blue plastic bag, fill it with returnable cans and bottles from those delicious holiday beverages, and return the full bag to Rieke after Thanksgiving. Pick up a bag in the front office or the Playground Committee's table outside of school on November 15 from 8:45 - 9:30 a.m. Email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
Remember, no school on Monday, Nov. 12 for the Veteran’s Day Holiday so enjoy the long weekend!
