    School News (NEW)
    Dear SES Community,

As part of our work as a staff, equity team, parent involvement, and site council, there has been an ask for more community events to connect our community with the work we do here in our classrooms around identity, race, justice, and inclusiveness. I'm excited to present our first speaker. Please see the linked poster (also embedded below).

    Have a wonderful weekend!

    Read-a-thon - It's a wrap (NEW)
Y’all are amazing. Thanks for sending your kids to school with so much joy for reading. It really shows!

Please have your students turn in their reading map with their TOTAL reading units marked on their and the page next to it with the form to be signed by their adult, plus any physical pledges (cash or checks made out to the SES PTSA). Turn them into your teacher or the office BEFORE Spring Break! EVERYONE who turns in their reading map and form office will get a free ice cream from Dairy Hill!! So, please make sure to turn it in. It helps us give our prizes for top readers and top reading classrooms too!

If students need a new form there is one in the office, library and you can get one online to print at the SESPTSA.org website.

You can still collect pledges through the 24th bith online and in physical form, but that will be the FINAL day so get them in as soon as you can.

    Thanks for all you do!

    Art Room Asks (NEW)
We are almost entering the 4th quarter of the school year!!! Crazy times! I am wanting to have more volunteers in the Art Room with students and to help me with hanging Art/prepping supplies. It could be a one-time commitment or a weekly time slot. If interested please swing by the Art Room or drop me an email (ccorwin@pps.net).

I have a special collage project that I did with 2 middle school classes on 10-inch cake rounds. I would love to offer it to the K-5 classes. We could do the collage on rectangles, but there is something magical about the circle shape. You can take a look at it here. I'm looking for donations to buy about 300 rounds which will be about $170. Also, we are low on Sharpies thick, thin, and metallic.

Thanks for all your support, Indigo

Weather-Related Make-Up Day Added to Calendar (NEW)
Due to the inclement weather school closures in February, there will be 1 make-up day added to the 2022-23 school year. Wednesday, June 14 will now be the last day of school for Pre-Kindergarten - 11th Grade.

Saturday, March 18: SOLVE SE 82nd Ave cleanup (NEW)
SOLVE and the 82nd Avenue of Roses Business Association are partnering to clean up all of SE 82nd Ave through regular events. This Saturday’s cleanup is near several schools. If your family is interested in participating, please visit this page to learn more and register.

    Walk Run Move Coordinator Needed
Hi community! Steph Barnhart, PTSA FUNraising Chair here. SES Walk Run Move is returning later this year: Friday, May 26! I managed this event last year to bring it back post-Covid, but would love to find new lead coordinator(s) to train who will lead the charge for the next couple of years. It is simple, SO FUN, and already pretty organized for 2023 - great year to learn the ropes!

Do you have some project management chops? Experience volunteering at or running marathons or races? Just want to bring a lot of joy to students and a good chunk of $$$ to the school? I will work with you every step of the way this year, and I’d be happy to share more about what the job entails or answer any questions.

Some of those things are: Coordinating volunteers, brochure design & distribution, managing the fundraising program, setting up the route, collaborating with our awesome PE staff Iris, working with the PTSA safety committee, seeking prize donations, and working with our sponsors.

Even remotely curious?? Let’s talk! Email: stephbarnhart1@gmail.com.
