    School News (NEW)
Yesterday we had our student-led conferences for the first time since before the pandemic. What a lovely evening it was for all of us to witness how many students and parents came to Sunnyside to show off their brilliant work. I loved watching the kinders proudly take their parents' hands and lead them through the classroom and then also hearing the energy of the 4th graders show off their drumming schools, in addition, it was so fun to see so many middle schoolers walk through the halls with their parents excitedly pointing out their work. It's so special to have Sunnyside traditions continue and it also feels so great to see so many people wear their Sunnyside gear and buy more Sunnyside gear. We proudly show off our Sunnyside spirit.

This week we had a ton of travel and it was a warm one! Michael and Robin went to the Japanese Gardens, Sarah's class went to Reed Canyon, Becca went to NE Alberta, Tara at Esplanade, and 4th and 5th grade to Laurelhurst. We are so happy to travel and we need you to join us! Please connect with your childs' teacher and chaperone if you can. It takes all of us.

Speeches continue to impress me and our 8th graders are showing up with kindness, wisdom, and truth. What a gift to be able to see the culmination of their time here at Sunnyside.

Thank you for all you do! Stay cool and enjoy our blue skies.

    Class pictures
Class pictures were this week; each class took one formal photo and one goofy photo. Each photo costs $8.00. (If you are able, please consider contributing additional funds towards a scholarship. Our desire is for every student to take home a copy of their class photo.)

From the library: Specific Book Topics Ask!
We have had LOTS of interest in Dungeons and Dragons books, both stories and handbooks. If you have any sitting around unused the library would love them!

Also high interest right now is cat-themed manga and graphic Novels, especially Chi and Pusheen. The library would love any unloved copies floating around your house!

    Bring Empwo to SES
Empwo is an extremely talented local artist who has murals featured around the city. Funds raised will go toward having Empwo lead a group of students in painting a mural in the school at Sunnyside, something which will be enjoyed by all for years to come. View Empwo’s art on Instagram. Empwo is also a breakdancer and would love to bring a crew of dancers to Sunnyside to showcase their skills during assemblies for K-5 and middle school. Please, donate if you can!
