2023 8th grade marine biology trip to Catalina Island
10/13/2022The Catalina Island Marine Biology Trip is the culmination of our middle school curriculum. It takes place on Catalina Island off the coast of Southern California and involves travel by airplane, bus and ferry. The dates this year are May 15th-19th 2023.
Adults are needed to help chaperone. Often we have more chaperone volunteers than spots available, so we use a lottery system. If you are chosen in the lottery, we will let you know by the second week of December. Each chaperone is responsible for their trip contribution.
The per person contribution for the Catalina trip is $1,100. If this expense if a burden for your family, please contact Eryn, Alix, your student's teacher, or anyone else at SES with whom you feel comfortable. Families may contribute to SES in full or in part. For those contributing in part, the balance will be covered by the Go Fund, which is funded through fundraising efforts on the part of the SES community.
We use a form to record your child's intention to participate in the trip, your interest in chaperoning and other details. This form must be submitted no later than Friday, November 10th, 2022, so we know how many students are attending and to secure our plane tickets.
A deposit of $100 for your student must be submitted to the office by Friday, November 18th, 2022 in order to reserve their spot. This deposit is non-refundable and allows us to make the reservations. You can pay online using a credit card or bring cash or a check to the office.
