From the Principal
Hello Woodstock Families,
Happy November! Yesterday marked the end of the first quarter. It is hard to believe that we’re already entering the second quarter of the school year. There has been a lot accomplished this year so far and I’m excited to move forward and to continue to watch students grow the rest of this year.
As we move into November, please remember that daylight savings ends this weekend. Be prepared to “fall back” one hour Saturday night!
Although this was a short week for students due to today’s teacher work day, I still encourage you to read through this newsletter as there is important information about current activities and upcoming events.
We hope you have a safe weekend and we look forward to seeing you on Monday.
With Woodstock Pride,
Seth Johnson, Principal
For the winter holidays, we are offering some assistance for families that are having difficulty making ends meet. We are currently collecting holiday wish lists from families needing support.
Here is how the program works:
We will be taking referrals for families during the month of November. Families wishing to participate in the program will fill out a wishlist for each child in their home. Please return your child’s wish list by November 12th.
Each wishlist item will be coded, written on a tag and placed on the bulletin board across from Room 1. All names of program participants will be left off the tags and kept confidential. Families that are able to give will take one or more wishlist tags from the bulletin board and shop for those items. They will then bring the wrapped gift(s) or gift card(s) to the office with the tag attached. The tags are very important because they will have the family code written on it to be sure that the gifts go to the appropriate families. I will contact participating families and distribute the gifts.
This is a confidential program. To inquire about participation, please call me at 503-916-6380 or talk to your child's teacher. During the weeks of Nov 12 - Dec 6th, check out the Season of Sharing bulletin board if you would like to fulfill someone's wish! Thank you for your care and concern for our school community.
Ponny Kosmas and Shannon Nicolas
A Note from the Health Room
Please send your child to school with lip balm if your child gets severely chapped lips in the winter so that he/she does not miss class time coming to see the health assistant for chapped lips. The health assistant does not have the ability to supply lip balm to the children.
Also please remember that as the weather gets colder the children will still be having recess outside. Please provide your child with gear to keep them warm at recess.
REVISED: Chess for Success Returns November 19th
Woodstock chess club is back! Chess club meets TUESDAYS from 2:45 until 3:45 in the cafeteria starting November 19th. We have a new coach this year, Mr. Padura! Mr. Padura used to be in a chess club when he was in school and he can't wait to teach you all about his favorite game, and all its intricacies.
Pick up your permission slips in the office, and remember club starts November 19th.
This year, conferences are scheduled for November 25 and 26.
If you need an interpreter for you child's conference or need assistance scheduling a conference, please email your child's name and your needed language to WoodstockAttend@pps.net.
Any appointments that are scheduled prior to the appropriate registration window may be deleted as the schedule is cleared for the tiered registration. Thanks for your cooperation.
Parents/guardians are being asked to register for conferences online. As this is such an important event and we truly want all families to be able to attend, we have developed tiered conference scheduling to allow for more equitable access to conference registration. Below you will find the dates that registration opens to families:
- Families whose First Language is NOT English - Tuesday, October 8 at 8:00 AM
- Families with Multiple Children Attending Woodstock - Friday, October 11 at 8:00 AM
- Open to All Families - Monday, October 14 at 8:00 AM
Please use the following link to register for conferences during your window:
Again, if you need an interpreter for conferences or if you have extenuating circumstances that need to be considered for conference scheduling, please email WoodstockAttend@pps.net.
We look forward to seeing you at conferences!
Additional Conference Information:

- Also, please note that due to time limitations and other factors, we are only scheduling one conference per student.
