    This weekly memo provides an update regarding the Phase 2 enrollment & program balancing implementation work for the weeks of 1/16/2023-1/31/2023.


    Facilities

    Facilities personnel toured the Bridger site with the architect, on 1/27/23.  

    Engagement

    Community-building efforts are still underway. SE Principals have until February 3rd to provide us with the dates of their events that will be happening through August 2023. We will reach out to District staff to ensure we have staff at these events for any questions that may arise. 

    Community events:

    • Bridger is hosting a community Open House on 2/15/2023

    • Marysville is hosting a community Open House on 2/15/2023

    • Lent is hosting a community Open House on 2/15/2023

    • Atkinson is hosting a Bridger families Open House on 1/26/2023

    • Harrison Park is hosting a Harrison Park Middle School Open House on 3/7/2023 

    • Lane Middle School Open House 2/23/2023

     

    Communications

    This message will go out tomorrow to CSS and Bridger communities to address space concerns, to clarify how the new Bridger Creative Science School will be staffed next year, and to answer questions that continue to be asked.  This community message regarding staffing was sent to the Bridger community on 1/25/2023. Employee and Labor Relations is working with PAT on questions that have risen. We will be updating our website to include bi-weekly updates and our FAQ.

     

    Budget

    The Budget has been submitted for the Superintendent’s approval. Items needing budget include facilities modifications at Bridger, contractual obligations to pay teachers to pack and to provide professional development for the new buildings, and ensuring the new Harrison Park Middle School is ready to provide robust middle school programs in the arts, science, and library.

    To address students transferring from Lent English Scholars to Lent Spanish DLI, we have allocated a 1.0 FTE from this year’s SEGC set asideTo address students transferring from Lent English Scholars to Lent Spanish DLI, we have allocated a 1.0 FTE from this year’s SEGC set aside to support the additional students.  

    Implementation and Core team

    The Project team will be setting up core team meetings bi-weekly to review updates and ensure implementation is on track

    Transportation

    Transportation will be in attendance at community engagement meetings listed above. Supplemental plan criteria for SE Portland Program Balancing schools will be presented to Facilities and Operations Committee on February 8  with the final supplemental plan to be presented to the BOE in March.

    Childcare

    The RESJ team is currently working with Champions to formalize Childcare services at Lent, expecting services to be available for the 23-24 school year. On January 19th, Lent PTA invited the RESJ team to provide an update, Champions was present to provide programming overview and answer questions.
