    Dear Odyssey Community,

This is a very difficult letter to write to all of you. When one becomes a principal of a school, they embark on a journey of working with families, students and staff to build a strong educational community. Over the past 10 years, we have accomplished many wonderful things together. Making Odyssey a great school, filled with learning, educational growth, building a strong sense of community, settling into a home of our own, and a happy and safe place to see your children start their educational career.

The time has come that I will be making a transition to another school. I have accepted the principal position for Lewis Elementary School in Southeast Portland. I will begin this chapter of my career on July 1, 2019. Change is difficult, but can also be very positive. I like to have that outlook on all aspects of life.

The process for selecting a new principal will begin immediately. The first step is that the Senior Director of the Wilson Cluster, Kristie Lindholm, will hold a community meeting. At this meeting, district leaders want to hear from parents and teachers about our school needs and the characteristics that make our school special. During the meeting, you will get more information on the full hiring process in much more detail. More information to come soon on the date and
time of the meeting. Gina Roletto, who was assigned here to be the Assistant Principal, has been offered another position and will not be joining Odyssey. The new principal, with district support, will select the assistant principal for the Odyssey Program.

Saying good-bye is never easy, and I know this will be difficult for me, after so many years of building relationships with students, families and staff. Odyssey is definitely one of my favorite schools in my educational journey and will always have a special place in my heart.

Thank you for being such a wonderful community.

    Best regards,
    Deanne Froehlich
